Black Rhinoceros
Raw Power
The Black Rhinoceros has a truly sad story. For most of the 20th Century is was the most numerous species of rhino. It is estimated that in 1900 nearly 500,000 Black Rhino’s roamed free in the savannahs of Africa. Illegal poaching and habitat loss pushed the Black Rhino’s population down to 2,410 in 2004. In 2007, that number was down to 10. The Rhino was concluded to be extinct in the wild, and one of the sub species was concluded extinct.
The Black Rhino is a beautiful, powerful animal. They are solitary animals that reside in Eastern Africa. Help stop illegal poaching and reintroduce the Black Rhino back into the wild.
