Monarch Butterfly
The Orange Express
The Monarch Butterfly is an amazing species famous for its annual migration patterns. Masses of the orange butterfly flock thousands of miles north every spring. The duration of the migration is longer than the normal lifespan of a Monarch Butterfly (roughly 2 - 6 months).
Male Monarch Butterfly’s are typically somewhat larger than females. Also, females veins are much darker than the males.
Due to commercial development and habitat destruction along migration routes, the Monarch Butterfly is now at one-tenth of its known peak population in 1996.
