African Elephant
The Face of Africa
The African Elephant is the largest elephant, standing between eight and twelve feet tall. Males can weigh upwards of 15,000 pounds.
Elephants lifespan is roughly 50 years. Their tusks weigh over 100 pounds and are often over six feet long.
In 1970, the African Elephant had an estimated population of 400,000. In a survey two years ago, the population has fallen to 10,000. Poaching is illegal, but the elephant is still stripped of its tusks and left to die. Help turn the African Elephant around.
