Leopard
The Hunter
The leopard is the smallest of its respective family in the cats, behind tiger, lion, and jaguar. It competes for resources with these larger animals, and thus eats almost anything it can find.
The leopard’s Conservation status was recently changed from ‘Least Concern’ to ‘Near Threatened’. It’s numbers have dropped in the last decade. In southern Africa the population is thriving, but in the north the leopard is now believed to be extinct. It is difficult to get an exact estimate because leopards are nocturnal.
