Bactrian Camel
Double the Humps
Range
North Eastern Asia
The Bactrian Camel is one of the most unique species on Earth. With two humps, the EDGE (Evolutionarily Distinct and Globally Endangered) project judged the species as “evolutionary distinct”. The species required a special, focused conservation effort.
The Bactrian Camel now has only an estimated 950 members remaining in the wild. The IUCN rates the species as Critically Endangered. However, the future is promising as over 1 million more Bactrian Camels have been domesticated.
The Bactrian Camel is the one of the only species on Earth able to drink salt water. Help save this critically endangered unique species.
