The Silvery Gibbon lives exclusively on the Island of Java, making it extremely vulernable to habitat destruction. While the Silvery Gibbon has been protected under law since 1924, the species future remains very uncertain. Human population continues to sky rocket on the Island and huge portions of the rainforest are being destroyed.
The Gibbon is known for its courage amoung the treetops. They rountinely perform acrobatic jumps between trees. The Silvery Gibbon eats, sleeps, and mates all high up in the canopy. They truly rely on these trees for life.
There are only 4,000 Silvery Gibbons remaining. The IUCN gives the Silvery Gibbon a 50% chance of surivival over the next fifty years. Help protect them today.
