Red Deer
Majestic Antlers
Red Deer at one point were a rare sight. Now, the animal's population has grown enough to be graded as Least Concern on the IUCN scale. A true success story, the conservation efforts have been so effective that the Red Deer is now widespread across almost all of Europe.
The Red Deer is one of the largest species of deer. Males and females remain seperate at all times beside mating. During this mating time, called the rut, stags (the males) will compete for females.
The recent Red Deer population growth is a refreshingly optimistic conservation story.
