The cougar, sometimes referred to as a mountain lion, has the largest range of any land mammal in the West.
Capable of stealth hunting and powerful lunges, it is a deadly hunter. It preys on deer and related species, but also hunts domestic species of cow and sheep.
During the European Colonization of the Americas, the Cougar suffered nearly fatal losses in population.
The cougar is now a protected species and its numbers have risen. The IUCN lists it as a Least Concern species on the extinction risk scale. Help the cougar continue its comeback and visit our store or blog.
